Re: Warlock Video Game

In Witchlight, I remember her having a secret room full of literal demon babies, which provided a clue that she's not entirely on the up-and-up, despite her "fairy queen" disguise.

I've yet to sit down to read Eve of Ruin. Just a quick perusal of that book made me want to close it and spare myself ...

Re: Warlock Video Game

Tasha is the main character’s patron.

The scattershot approach they’ve taken with Tasha is weird. They’ve tried to make her heroic, and quietly ignored the time she kept Gra’azt as a sex slave for 100 years.

"Heroic" isn't exactly the vibe I'm getting, but will have to play the game to find ...

Re: Before anyone else thinks it's a briiliant idea to write another darklord with a personality split...

Just as vampire stories are not meant to be a commentary on real-world medical conditions like porphyria or rabies, very seldom does supernatural horror fiction use split personality tropes to comment on DID. More often, the condition is treated as, well, supernatural, and brought about by outside ...

Re: Warlock Video Game

Anyone else found it interesting that the imp's name is Skev? Especially if you remember Azalin's familiar in From the Shadows?

Re: Ravenloft Horror Within - source book set for June 2026

Not sure. The book has very little that's new compared to Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft . But the presentation is much improved.

Oh and by the way, I don't recommend ordering the Beadle and Grimm's Silver Edition. Contrary to the VRGTR one, which had some great extra material, this one mainly ...

It's a blurry photo I took of the book's "Special Thanks" section. It extends thanks to many of the writers of 2E product line (including even JWM) and also to the Kargatane and to the Fraternity of Shadows.

Re: Ravenloft Horror Within - source book set for June 2026

I will say this: the Innsmouth domain works. Yeah I know, it's a blatantly ridiculous concept, and a transparent gambit to market the book to Lovecraft fans, but damn if they haven't given it their all to make it work. The domain does a good job showcasing how Cthulhu would transform and corrupt the ...

Yep, they also gave Az an interesting new reaction power that lets him instantly learn any spell he manages to counterspell. But only for an hour, after which time it slips from his mind again.

Re: Ravenloft Horror Within - source book set for June 2026

Another thing I liked is they gave Azalin his old curse back, and retconned Hazlik to avoid copying him. I like to imagine that the two of them bumped into each other in a school corridor, and Azalin was like "one of us is going back home to change, and it ain't going to be me."

I assume because the stakes are so high that they can't afford to take chances. The Vistani know better than most that the best laid plans can go awry, and one does not cheat fate by employing half-measures.

Re: Ravenloft Horror Within - source book set for June 2026

Is it bad that I actually snickered at that awful "If her name is INza, maybe she can get us OUTza" joke during the Dungeon Masters show?
