Wererats are a phenotype of werebeast, which is to say lycanthrope, based on the animal form of a rat.
Ravenloft Gazetteer Volume III, p120-2. has updated information on allergen, immunities, and abilities of wererats.
- Chemical Bane (Ex): each wererat subject to a particular biological, chemical, or mineral substance, which may well be unknown to it;
- Immunities (Ex): disease and poison (a given wererat's particular chemical bane excluded)
- Squeeze (Ex): pass through opening as though one size smaller in hybrid form
- Tunnel Rat (Ex): excellent sense of direction in sewers

Wererats are encountered with exceptional frequency in the domain of Richemulot.[1][2] In addition, they are building a growing presence in Nosos.[3][4] Wererats may be also encountered in Forlorn[5] and Invidia.[6]
