Twist

Twist is Slice's quarterstaff. Initially simply a branch she snapped off of a gnarled old oak tree by the roadside to fight a group of Count Strahd's tax-gatherers running towards her, Slice refined the tool of convenience into a proper fighting staff once she got access to a workbench and the needed tools. Although Slice straightened its wood, she retained a twisted mass at the end where the branch once connected to its tree, to increase its striking power.

Although Slice very rarely makes up humorous stories about the great power of her staff, she does not believe in these; as a Magus, she imbues her staff with her own magic to increase its combat power. Sometimes, her teammate Aubert has been known to cast the Shillelagh-spell on it. Slice has (largely) politely rejected Wick's offers to permanently enchant the staff and turn it into a magic weapon, preferring to rely on her own power.

No one among the Chibiloft Crew knows that the oak whose limb Slice took was once sacred to the faith of Andral. The fact her actions were not punished as sacrilege may indicate her decision to take action to defend the weak was approved, somehow... or possibly there was nothing sacred left about the tree. If Twist holds any kind of special power apart from being a masterwork weapon, it has yet to reveal itself - apart from the fact that it is incredibly hard-wearing. No matter how many battles it has seen, it refuses to break.
