The blades of Mademoiselle Guillotine slice through the necks of the people of Chelleaux, taking the lives of young and old, rich and poor alike. Heads fall, and the masses cheer. But sometimes, with a flick of a sword, these excited cheers will turn to rage, as the Blood Red Pimpernel frees the condemned from the mouth of the darklord. The Blood Red Pimpernel fights and schemes to stop the madness of the realm, and to free it's people from the guillotine's cravings. There are many in Chelleaux who want the Pimpernel dead.
History
There have been several Blood Red Pimpernels over the years. The name of the original is lost to history. He died long ago, in a burning building, trapped there by the mob who had set it aflame. Only the second Blood Red Pimpernel, Sir Percy de Orczy, knew the first's true identity. Sir Percy died in 742, in the mouth of the guillotine. His head is said to lie in the catacombs beneath Sarnis.
The third Blood Red Pimpernel was a woman named Marguerite Chauvelin. A bold woman, quick with her blade and quick with a smile. Her mother had been one of Sir Percy's lovers. She dawned the hood of the Pimpernel in 750. Marguerite fought against the madness of Chelleaux for years, but disappeared one day, never to be seen again.
The current Blood Red Pimpernel is the nephew of Marguerite, the foppish aristocrat Fabio Robespierre. It was the mystery of his aunt's disappearance that lead him to discover the secret of the Pimpernels, and to take on the identity himself.
Appearance
A dark red hood hides the identity of the Blood Red Pimpernel, on those rare occasions when the hero must appear in public. A blood red hood and cape over the most fashionable of formal wear available in Chelleaux. Fashionable to the point of being lacy. Some say the color of the hood is to match the color of the flowers which the Pimpernel leaves behind as his calling card. Others say the hood was made from a blood-soaked sack used to carry heads from the guillotine.
