The Black Spire is a large, natural seemingly spire of glassy, purplish-black stone standing in Hazlan between the the Black Iron Shield and the Misty Border. It is said to a memento from before the Great Upheaval when the blasted wastes and nightmarish mountains of Bluetspur lay beyond the Hazlani frontier. When struck by lightning, the spire resonates, putting to sleep and depositing in Bluetspur those unfortunate enough to be in its immediate vicinity. The Black Spire is the entrance to the Song of Obscene Hunger mistway. It is a one-way, excellently reliable mistway leading from Hazlan to Bluetspur. Within Hazlan, there are at least two rumors concerning the Black Spire. One maintains that its lightning induced, otherworldly ringing drives men mad. The other maintains that those hearing that ringing are instead delivered to Bluetspur and its abominations.[1]
