Talk:Dr. Daclaud Heinfroth
Gundarakite? Origin unknown? Cure 23:43, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Gundarakite, definitely. One of the sources says he was born there. I don't remember which. -- Gonzoron 22:23, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
What's With the Alias?
"Henrik" Dominiani? Just caught that in Gaz 1. So he has a fake first name, too? That blows apart the idea that "Dr. Dominiani" was a nickname inspired by/alluding to his methods. I always thought it was the Gundarakite equivalent of "Dr. Pain," as in it was obvious he was a monster. You know, like a wrestler name. Now with the first name Henrik, it appears this is supposed to be a full alias, nothing suspicious about it. Also, any idea on which of these is his public name and which is his private one? Akriel's notes to the PC's in FoG suggest that "Dominiani" is the public face and "Heinfroth" is actually the name people fear. DoD suggests that it's the other way around. - FoG clearly says on pp12-13 that Dominiani is the alias and Heinfroth is his "Given Name", and as you say Akriel's note confirms that. But he's not feared in Gundarak, he's beloved. "his kindness has earned him a fair degree of popular support". So I don't think he'd have gained it as an epithet. (Yes, it's odd that his alias is so clearly malevolent and his real name isn't, but that's Ravenloft naming for ya... ;) ) I never noticed the issue in DoD before, but yeah, I see how it could be read that the names are reversed. Maybe they were trying to imply that now that he has his own Domain, and is away from those that might know Heinfroth is a vampire, now he freely uses his given name? (but is "also known" as Dr. D) -- Gonzoron 14:59, 23 January 2012 (MST)
