Siraaj al-Shahin is an ambitious wizard (under the Al-Qadim rules, he is a sorcerer of sand and wind) who was caught attempting to steal a scroll from the University of Phiraz. As punishment, his right hand was removed, and he was exiled from Phiraz. He was eventually allowed to stay in the village of Nizwar because his language skills made him useful as a translator. Despite these setbacks, his ambitions are undiminished, and he still hopes to gather the knowledge to summon an earth monolith.[1] Thus far, though, the best he has managed are earth miniliths.[2]
