Queen of the Green

First mentioned in the Wartorn Gazetteer Volume II: Conquista, the Queen of the Green is a Loa who is worshiped in the domain of Conquista, especially in the northern cantón. She is a counterpart to the Maiden of the Swamp, as she represents all that is green and grows in both the wild forests and cultivated lands held by humans.

The Queen of the Green is a shy and retiring Spirit, and usually hides in the depths of the as-yet unspoiled forests in fear of human hands and axes. Whenever she senses mortals engage in agriculture and gardening, she hopes that they have changed their ways and draws closer, only to flee as soon as crops are harvested and herbs plucked, crying green tears for the plants that must die to feed others.

Appearance

Depictions of the Queen of the Green show her as a beautiful young woman, covered from the neck down in a thick fur of grass, which changes colours with the seasons. Her hair is a mass of plants and flowers. She has an axe-wound in one flank, which constantly weeps bright red blood. She wears a wedding ring on her left hand, given to her by Papa Fleuve. She is rare among Loa in that she is always happy to see him arrive and content to see him depart.
