Text

The Prophecy of the Great Silence is a short and cryptic message which states that "All words fade, and either meaning remains, or else nothing remains".

History

The prophecy was first spoken to Victor Gagné by what may have been an avatar of the mercurial goddess Brightwell, and so might be thought to be an article of faith of her Church. However, it turned out that the prophecy is also known to Simon Keysmith, first follower of the Divinity in All, who passed it on to Paloma. As such, the prophecy's true source remains unknown.

Meaning

Currently, the full meaning of the Prophecy is unknown. Its message may be taken to be inspirational, exhorting those who hear it to create the 'meaning that remains', but it might just as easily be a dire warning that oblivion looms. It might even be a warning of the activities of an apocalyptic qabal such as the Centurions of the Night or an evil not yet identified.
