Orinda Nahle (born Orinda Roys, 669 BC in Skald[1], Kartakass) is a retired adventurer and the Meistersinger of Chord, a rather tiny Kartakan hamlet.[2]
In her youth, Orinda was a singer and barmaid at the Tippling Minstrel tavern. She became mesmerized by the Adventuring Band of Loran Elbrian when they visited the tavern. She fell in love with Perryn Nahle, whom she eloped with when the adventuring party left. The members of the party gave her training, and she developed into an experienced bard and monster hunter.[3]
Sadly, this joyful time was not to last. Although Tobias Stark was the first to die, the group disbanded following the death of Loran Elbrian. Orinda and Perryn adventured together until they were kidnapped in 711 BC from Invidia and brought to Castle Hunadora to face the wrath of the vengeful Duke Gundar, a monster they had fought years earlier. There they were hunted in a game of cat and mouse that ultimately cost Perryn his life in order to save hers. Though she managed to retrieve Perryn's corpse (and thus prevent his transformation into a vampire), the incident left her lame in one leg. After seeing his body cremated, Orinda rode to Chord in Kartakass, where she became meistersinger and has remained thus for the past few decades.[4]
Orinda has no knowledge of Gundar's resurrection, but if she were to find out, she would likely seek out worthy adventurers to destroy him one last time.[5]
