Milos is a character from the novel I, Strahd: The War Against Azalin. Milos is a mercenary who had been in the service of a Barovian nobleman, who fetched up on the wrong end of a dispute over taxes with Strahd Von Zarovich, and whose head was found on a stake one morning.
Milos stole the presumed diary of Strahd Von Zarovich - annotated by Azalin - from his deceased employer's property in lieu of the wages he had been owed (noting that all the other mercenaries had done the same), and attempted to sell it to Mrs. Heywood. He reluctantly agreed to leave the book in Mrs. Heywood's care for the day so she could read it to ensure its authenticity. Milos expressed some interest in learning how to read by watching Mrs. Heywood do so, and seemed to be genuinely disappointed when she informed him this was not how someone could learn.
Milos returned in the evening to negotiate payment for the book, only to be confronted by a vampire minion (presumably Strahd's or else a member of the Kargat), who entered Mrs. Heywood's Bookshop to retrieve the book and apprehend the thief. Milos surrendered the book but retreated. The vampire fiendishly thanked the horrified Mrs. Heywood for delaying the thief and promised Milos would be tracked down and fed upon. As such, Milos was probably not long for this world.
