La Lumiere, also known as The Enlightened or The Enlightenment, is a Chaotic Good qabal of Gothic Earth. They advocate arts, learning, and especially science as essential to the growth of human compassion and advancement. As such, they oppose restrictions on science and progress. Their conflict with the Red Death comes most acutely with its spreading of superstition and terror.[1] its efforts contributed greatly to the era of history known as the Enlightenment.[2]
La Lumiere was first organized in France.[1] It came from the unification of three smaller but similar qabals: the Alliance, the Society of Keepers, and the Sisterhood.[2]
The group's symbol is a white candle held in silver.[1] Many scientists and philosophers have numbered among the ranks of the Enlightened.[2]
