A character from the Death of a Darklord novel, Konrad Burn was an apothecary, healer and herbalist[1] as well as a mage-finder and, as such, a member of the Brotherhood of Broken Blades. He was deeply affected by the loss of his wife and partner Beatrice Burn, such that only rage ever filled him with emotion.[2] Since that loss, he never had another partner, although he sometimes worked with Jonathan Ambrose.
Konrad was chosen by Harkon Lukas to serve as a host for his new body in a body switch, such that Lukas may escape his domain. In order to get Conrad into a position of weakness, Lukas orchestrated the Zombie Plague of Cortton. He manipulated Marland Ashe into instituting the plague and Calum Songmaster into writing a letter calling for help from Ambrose and company, of which Conrad was sure to join. Lukas was successful in capturing Burn's body, leaving Conrad's soul with no body to inhabit. However, Lukas discovered his victory was but ash in his mouth, as he could not pass through the border. Conrad's form became merely another facade for Lukas.[3]
