In her youth, Hollie Armstrong disguised herself as a boy and ran away to sea. Eventually, under the name of Holland Armstrong, she became first mate of the Luck of the Goddess. She was aboard the Luck when it passed inadvertently through the Emerald Stream to Sri Raji. In fact, she was the person who talked the Dark Sisters out of killing everyone aboard the Luck, enticing them with the possibility of trade instead.[1]
Upon first meeting, the Dark Sisters had recognized Armstrong as a woman. Once revealed, Armstrong abandoned her male guise.[1]
Two years later, Armstrong returned to Sri Raji as an employee of the Boritsi Trading Company. However, once back in Muladi she re-established working relationships among the priests of Rudri and the Dark Sisters alike and then declared herself an independent agent. However, Armstrong blunted the wrath of the Boritsi family by ensuring that they received certain beneficial trade deals despite her defection.[1]
Over the course of the following two decades, Armstrong has become wealthy and respected as a trade broker, arranging profitable deals among many parties operating within Sri Raji, including the Boritsi Trading Company, the Colonial Merchant Company, the Carlyle Trading Company, and various local organizations as well.[1] She has even kept the mercenary company Taakat from destroying the East Rajian Trading Company.[2] Perhaps most importantly, she ensures that the priests of Rudri and the Dark Sisters always get their cut.[1]
