Hermitian

Hermitian is the familiar of Tycho Geldnehar. He is a midnight cat, but has been transmuted into human form by the create faux henchman spell. As hermitian is a mathematical term, it is plausible that this name was conferred upon the midnight cat by Tycho. Hermitian's original name is not yet known.

In his human form, Hermitian is a small man, with somewhat pointed fingernails, sharp eyeteeth and bicuspids, black hair, slightly pointed ears, and yellow-green eyes. He appears no older than thirty years old, but is in fact older than Tycho. He has had a permanent control shape spell cast upon him, which allows him to return to his cat form, and also to assume a petrified cat form.

History

Hermitian has been a profound and sinister influence on Tycho's life. He convinced Tycho's mother, Risidia Lonvem, to move to Nova Vaasa, then planted the idea of permanently returning to Darkon with her husband, Agnar Geldnehar, by getting him Claimed. He also found an educational program for Tycho, which led to the Claimed Agnar finding Tycho's birth records, discovering his wife's betrayal (though he misinterpreted the clues as indicating infidelity), and leaving. If the Cat's Paw Dread Possibility is taken to be true, Hermitian is the true father of Tycho's alleged daughter Lisette, the conception of whom led to Tycho being completely prevented from seeing his former love, Karola Zährenner. Hermitian is also responsible for bringing the overtures of the Fraternity of Shadows to Tycho's attention, which led to him joining the organization.
