Fillar Esven
Fillar Esven is the owner and operator of the Eyes of Midnight a shop in Orașnou. He sells few items of any pragmatic use, instead focusing on oddities, jewelry, and other weird or unusual items that have captured his attention. Although Fillar is somewhat less than the most principled sort, he holds malice towards no one. In fact, he is a secretly wereraven, although his gangly appearance and bird-like mannerisms may betray something of his nature to an astute eye.[1] Despite his timid and easily spooked nature, he is secretly a member of the Order of the Feather, a secret society that opposes Strahd from the shadows.[2]
History
For a time, Fillar Esven would rob Burgomaster Ivan Randovich's home, making off with some of the miserly burgomaster's ill-gotten possessions and selling them at the Eyes of Midnight.[1]
When the newly undead Laszlo Vaduva was seeking Tatyana's powder box, he correctly assumed it would eventually appear at Fillar's shop. Using his wolfskin cap, Laszlo infiltrated the town as Arik Lavus, a simple traveling trader. In order to foster a friendship, Laszlo sold goods he secretly stole from passing fortune-seekers he murdered. The gambit paid off, and Laszlo was able to secure the powder box.[1]
