Festival of the Blazing Sun

In Curse of Strahd, the Festival of the Blazing Sun is one of the various festivals held by Baron Vargas Vallakovich in his deluded attempts to ward away Strahd by generating enough hope and happiness in the townspeople. By the time the player characters reach Vallaki, the Festival of the Blazing Sun will be three days away. The Festival was preceded by the Wolf's Head Jamboree. See p. 95-96, 119, 123 for details.
Specific things of note:
- Lars Kjurls, a town guard, laughs at one of the baron's statements and is put in chains and drug through the town.[1]
- Coinciding with the night of the festival, Strahd may arrive, unleash his vampie spawn from Henrik van der Vort's Coffin Shop and attack St. Andral's Church, killing Father Lucian Petrovich in the process. This all happens unless the player characters have taken steps to this possibility or otherwise intervene.[2]
