The Falinescu family was a wealthy family^[1] of nobles residing in Orașnou and perhaps its only noble family. Wealth was passed to the most recent generation, but Lucian Falinescu continued to build upon the family's prosperity through the success of his inventions, and his wife Glovia was noted for her skills as a healer.^[2]

The fate of the family began to change when, nearly a decade ago, their daughter Isabella Falinescu died from disease. Although (or perhaps because) Isabella rose as a ghost, her death sent Glovia into a downward spiral of dark emotions and desperation, ultimately culminating into an obsession to bring Isabella back from the grave at any cost. Glovia began to research black magic and forbidden science. When Lucian demanded she stop, she murdered him and turned him into a flesh golem.^[2] Glovia ultimately met her end at the hands of adventurers^[3] when she tried to implant the soul of her daughter into another young girl named Sorina. With the fall of Glovia, Isabella's ghost was laid to rest.^[4]

Lucian was the only son of the Falinescus.^[5] It has not been revealed if Lucian had any sisters or if any other more distant or older relatives still exist.
