Evarias Arathen

Evarias Arathen is an evil wizard and a member of the Black Opal Guild. As any member of that guild, he is quite fond of necromancy and reanimation. Formerly living in Il Aluk, his dark experiments were brought to light, and he was forced to flee. Fortunately, this proved a secret boon as he fled the same year as the Requiem destroyed Il Aluk.[1]
Arathen dwells in the an abandoned tower that lies on the Nova Vaasa side of the Nova Vaasa/Darkon border. The tower is haunted by the spectre known as Silana. He is able to dwell there peacefully in return for supplying her with victims. Arathen is sure to keep an onyx ring to keep her at bay if need be. Arathen's caliban bodyguard Grud carries one as well.[2]
Arathen has animated several uncommon varieties of Obedient Dead (including sharptalons, leaping zombies, smashers)[3] from corpses stolen from graves and taken from the occasional group of fools he can lure to his tower. He avoids grabbing nearby townspeople for fear of attracting attention to his operations.[4]
