Ekhart is a minor character from the Ravenloft product line novel, To Sleep With Evil. He is aservant of Lord Donskoy but the superior of Ljubo, whom also serves Donskoy but under Ekhart's command. Ekhart is described as a tall fellow but whose movements betray a certain frail rigidity about him. (This reflects a curse of decay put upon things and people associated with Lord Donskoy.) When Ekhart speaks, his mouth barely moves, locked in a harsh scar-like expression.
Beyond receiving guests and cargo, Ekhart also participates in Donskoy's monthly murder and robbery of Mist-lost travelers.
Biography
At the start of TSWE, Ekhart and Ljubo receive the arriving Marguerite de Boche, Lord Donskoy's soon-to-be-wife, and escort her back to Donskoy's keep. Ekhart escorts Marguerite whenever she noncovertly leaves the keep to go for walks. Like Lord Donskoy, he is at first polite (though never quite friendly) but as time goes on, he becomes ever more abusive and hostile. When she is about due, he openly expresses contempt and antagonism toward her. On at least one of her escape attempts, Ekhart is the one who apprehends her. It is unknown what happens to Ekhart following Lord Donskoy's death, but neither Zosia nor Marguerite seem to face any immediate reprisals.
