Side effects are undesired responses in a creature to a medicine or, more generally, to a drug. Many medicines and, more generally, drugs include undesirable side effects which make them at the same time poisonous substances. This is in fact true, at least at some level, of all drugs and distinguishes them from nutriments. The most insidious of the side effects is the fact that drugs may be and, at least at some low level, usually are addictive.
