Pierrobit are Tiny-sized, Chaotic Evil Outsiders, who are found predominantly in the domain of Madego. They were possibly created along with the domain out of the Mists, though some recall the Abyss; this might be personal False History, however. Although Pierrobit are Chaotic Evil, these miniature fiends are apparently not counted among the ranks of the Tanar'ri. They are blessed with spell-like abilities that allow them to assume any number of disguises and forms, including the appearance and power of minor monstrous humanoids and undead.
In their true form, Pierrobit look like fiendish versions of Chi-Folken, possessing batwings and a tail with a stinger.
History
The Shrouded Years
Between the years of 644 BC and 740 BC, during the Shrouded Years of Madego, the Pierrobit played the role of the monsters encountered in the Lands Above; the domains and Clusters above Madego. In this, they had just as little choice as did the Chi-Folken on whom they preyed. Moved hither and yon by the hands of unseen and unknown puppetmasters, the Pierrobit assumed the guises of various creatures and acted according to a script not of their own making, and no one suspected that they were anything other than the roles they played. Even though many of them felt frustration and tried to rebel, they were powerless to do so.
Post-740 BC
The Night of Music, when the goddess Lupta appeared in the barren plains of G'Henna province and served as the focus for a great ritual that restored the damage dealt by the Great Upheaval, was a turning point for the Pierrobit no less than it was for the Chi-Folken. The compulsions that bade the Pierrobit act out roles in obscurity were broken, and they were free to act on their own cognizance.
Many of the Pierrobit still delight in playing the roles of monsters, to terrorize the Chi-Folken; they remain predominantly Chaotic Evil creatures. However, the more ambitious specimens have taken to integrating into Chi-Folken society, where they build lives for themselves as celebrated - or despised - actors and other performers. Although many enjoy creating fear and dismay through transgressive performances, there are those so moved by vanity that they seek adoration instead, and therefore strive for nothing less than excellence in their performances.
Religion
As a species, the Pierrobit have taken up the worship of Lupta with apparent gusto, and are responsible for designing some of the revels the goddess's church holds to honour her. Specifically, they seem to favour holding great pageants and acting out events to honour the goddess, who they hail as the Matron of the Revels and thank for their freedom. They do not appear to have any special affection for the spirits and Loa the Chi-Folken also worship, although the Chi-Folken claim that Lupta is Mother of Spirits may prevent them from actively antagonizing these entities.
Alignment
With their freedom to choose their own path, some Pierrobit - especially the ones who have integrated into Chi-Folken society - are slowly drifting away from the path of Evil. It would take a lot for a Pierrobit to likewise abandon Chaos, however.
