An octopus tree is a malignant and intelligent tree-like plant that floats on the top of the sea by itself or in groves of greater numbers. Although octopus trees use photosynthesis to derive much of their sustenance, devouring flesh is necessary for their growth. Beyond its lashing tentacles and the giant maw at is base, an octopus tree can also use an array of spell-like abilities. Its ability to warp wood is especially dangerous if used on the ships humanoid kind often the sea with. Octopus trees quickly regenerate damage inflicted from most sources, although fire and cold bypass that regeneration.^[1]

Octopus trees can be encountered in the Drowning Deep^[2], the Sea of Sorrows, the the Nocturnal Sea, and Souragne^[3]
