A hangman tree is a carnivorous plant of low human-level intelligence that release hallucinatory spores to convince its prey it is nothing but a harmless, normal tree or benign treant. Once its prey has been put at ease, the hangman attacks with its vines, using them as nooses to hang victims from its branches. Given long enough, the tree will drop its victims into its stomach, where they are digested.^[1]

Hangman Trees may encountered in the forests of Dominia^[2] and Forlorn.^[3] Waffs (also known as shadow dryads) have been known to bond with hangmen trees.^[4]
