Fusillading is an execution method that consists of killing an individual condemned by the state of the commission of a crime by the simultaneous firing of multiple arrows, bolts or balls on the part of a squad of bowmen, of crossbowmen, or of musketeers. The act of so killing is intended to be quick and relatively painless. No great skill is necessarily involved and consequently an executioner is not presumed by this method of execution. Any handful of soldiers can be expected to perform efficiently a fusillading. Fusilladings are perceived as being especially useful for maintaining discipline within an army.
