Barracuda are carnivorous fish that normally only target smaller fish and similar prey and avoid humanoids. Nonetheless, they may become drawn to humanoids carrying shiny objects in the mistaken belief the objects are living prey.^[1] In the Demiplane of Dread, barracudas, as with all animals, may see their behavior warped radically by their environments' fell influence^[2][3] or commanded by some fell creature. In any of these cases, a school of barracuda can become quite dangerous, the barracudas charging into combat at speeds equal to their normal speed multiplied by a factor of three.^[1]

Barracuda can be encountered in Saragoss, where they take to feasting upon the meat of humanoids with an unusual desire.^[4]
