Cave ants^[1] are burrowing pests that are not directly harmful to humans. However, when agitated (as in, exposed to light), they create a chemical secretion into the sand in their lairs. If the contaminated sand is combined with multiple bodies of the cave ants, it can produce a Confusion like effect that is entirely natural. A drug that creates this effect is called battle wind. Another drug, green sand, is derived from battle wind and is causing enough social upheaval to come to the attention of several nations within the Core.

Cave ants dwell in dry, underground environs with plenty of sand.
