The Valpurleiche is a type of corporeal undead that sometimes forms when an innocent man or woman is wrongfully hanged for a crime they did not commit.[1] Valpurleiche are also know as Valpur'geists', though despite the implications of the latter name, there does not seem to be anything ghostly about them.)
Valpurleiche are obsessed with finding the living beings that were responsible for their untimely death and kill them. In this regard they are, for all practical purposes, invincible. If they are destroyed by conventional means, they will simply reform later to resume the hunt. Once they find and kill their quarry, they simply rationalize that folks similar to its victim are equally guilty and goes hunting and killing them. They cannot rest unless their innocence has been proven.[1]
Valpurleiche attack with powerful fists and attempt to strangle their victims.[1]
