Side effects are undesired responses in a creature to a medicine or, more generally, to a drug. Many medicines and, more generally, drugs include undesirable side effects which make them at the same time poisons. This in fact true, at least at some level, of all drugs and distinguishes them from nutriments. The most insidious of the side effects is the fact that drugs may be and, at least at some low level, are usually addictive.
