The Endurance was something of a cross between a galleon and a frigate. She was a military vessel converted to cargo carrying, which entailed the removal of four of her seven catapults. She was also armed with ballistae and carried a crew of 91. The figurehead of the Endurance bears the visage of Poseidon.[1]
The vessel was haunted by the ghosts of Madeline Stern, Jacob and Charlotte Reisland. As of 724 BC, it was owned and commanded by Captain Garvyn.[2] He had been cursed by the Dark Powers for dumping overboard the corpses of Madeline, Jacob, and Charlotte, which he had been hired to deliver to Todstein. In consequence, the Endurance became the Ship of Horrors and remained so[3] until the curse was broken in 737 BC, whereupon the captain and his vessel were returned whence they had come from beyond the Mists.[4]
