Residing in Resistencia, Curate Elias Machera is an old, self-serving priest of the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows whom sees a merger with the Church of Ezra as a way to gain power within his own church hierarchy. Machera is self-righteous but a sycophant to those whom he sees exceeds him in social status, such as Roberto Obando. Many of the commoners of his flock do not particularly like his curacy. Consequently, Curate Machera is jealous of Jusue Navarro in Libertad.[1]
