Beyond his hedonism, Skully conducted investigations into the occult to provide himself with inspiration for his stories and poetry. His research brought him to the attention of the Fraternity, an organization into which he was eventually inducted. However, his addictions have drawn the ire of his colleagues, who have reduced his role in the organisation to managing Le Café de Nuit. Ambrose's past has left him eternally in a bitter mood.[1]
