Jacques Renier (Settler of Mordent)

Jacques Renier was a distant ancestor of the modern Renier Family and the person whom brought much of Mordentish culture to the region known as Mordent today. As of 180 BC, the veteran adventurer, explorer, and foreigner from some far off land brought his family to the then little thorp of Mordentshire. Jacques brought with him prosperity and the tongue of High Mordentish as he took the reigns of Mordentshire leadership. As Jacques built upon and grew out Mordentshire, commerce eventually began to trickle in.

As Mordentshire reached the beginnings of true prosperity, Jacques attempted to organize the construction of a grand edifice to celebrate it, the House on Gryphon Hill. However, it quickly became apparent that some sort of misfortune, curse, or other malevolent presence seemed to inhabit the House. A string of freak accidents left several workers on the House became maimed or even dead, and there was at least one sighting of some sort of monster. Jacques refused to give up, and eventually the Reniers settled into the house. However their bluster was short-lived, as they were later driven away in the cold of winter.

Jacques and the Reniers proved resilient, for they quickly bounced back and built a new manor home, Heather House. Their savvy leadership continued to bring further fame and trade, eventually attracting the attention of several other noble families. At first, the Reniers were delighted with the company, but eventually the Renier influence was pushed out of Mordent by the newcomer noble families. Given the length of time he lived ago, Jacques is presumed to be deceased
