Kalen was the sworn enemy of [[Dominic D'Honaire]].  This is questionably canon because [[Heroes of Light]] says Kalen lived 200 years ago, while Dementlieu has been in existence as a domain for less than 100 years (since [[707 BC]]), according to all other sources, such as [[Ravenloft Third Edition]].  That places Kalen firmly in false history.  [[Gazetteer II|Gazetteer II's]] history of [[Dominic D'Honaire]] has him leaving [[Mordent]] at age 7, thus creating [[Dementlieu]].  So while everything else about Kalen fits into the established false history of the domain, Dominic was born in [[700 BC]], over a century after Kalen's death, and therefore could not be his enemy.

Mad Lord Kalen is assumed name of the founder of The Brotherhood of The Unseen Hand, the organization that would eventually become The Noble Brotherhood of Assassins. Disgusted with the political machinations of his home of Port-a-Lucine, which had resulted in him being disowned by his family, he founded the Brotherhood in attempt to topple the system from within.

Kalen was the sworn enemy of Dominic D'Honaire.
