Vlana Waldershen was an outcast Vistana[1] who married into the giorgio family of Thaeos Waldershen. Initially a happy marriage, it eventually turned sour and resulted only in disaster[2], with Vlana becoming a powerful fourth magnitude ghost.[1]

Background

Vlana was born to a Vistana woman whom she never known. Her mother, before her death, insisted that Vlana was a full-blooded Vistana but the rest of her tribe expressed their doubts. As a giogoto, Vlana was never accepted fully into the Vistana culture, which pained her greatly.[1]

Years later she met Thaeos Waldershen, a minor noble. They fell in love, but Thaeos' father threatened to disinherit his son if he married the gypsy. He died not long after. (Vlana's knowledge of untraceable poisons is what killed him.) This death allowed the pair to marry, and from this union was born one child, a boy name Drugen. Their shared interest in Drugen, tragically, was the wedge that forced the pair apart.[2],

Thaeos wished for Drugen to learn the ways of nobility, while his mother wanted to train him in the dark arts of magic. Thaeos would have none of that, and forbade Vlana from teaching the boy such things. She continued regardless, and was later discovered. Thaeos ordered his wife to stay away from the boy, and she ran to her room and locked herself in. During the next two days, her grief and anger caused her to snap. She left her room and attacked Thaeos at the harvest festival, Thaoes defended himself and killed his wife in the process, but not before she laid a powerful curse upon his family line.[2]

Unknown to anyone present, Vlana's ghost fled the scene, but before she did, she left her mark on her son. In later years, Thaeos would remarry a woman named Sarna Waldershen. This union giving Drugen a brother named Aester Waldershen]. They even adopted a female child named Josephine de Monceau into the home. Vlana's ghost stirred, and she killed Thaeos. She then dominated Drugan's body to use as a mortal vessel for her spirit.[2] Her desire was to completely destroy the Waldershen family line, including her own son.[3] It is presumed that adventurers freed Drugen from her domination, and the family settled back to normalcy.

Abilities

Vlana enjoys all the abilities of a fourth magnitude ghost, including the ability to permanently scar her victim.[1]
