Yeah, 1E is actually 2E. Well, there was Dungeons and Dragons, then it went Advanced Dungeons and Dragons (1E).

All along you were calling your game 3E/3.5/whatever, and you never thought to ask what that meant?

I'm pretty sure he's joking.
Anyways, I think Joel is a fun of AD&D 1E.

Alhoon - I know he's kidding. He's a member of a group of people who out out dedication to a D&D game put together these messageboards.

I'm just being sarcastic to sarcasm. Fun banter, whatever you want to call it. The wink was meant to lighten the smirk...

So, do you think trolls will make it to 5E?

Paizo and Drivethrurpg previously sold TSR and WotC pdfs until anti-piracy technology worked in their favor. Article: No More D&D PDFs (slashdot)

Chill out, sorry if I use too "extreme" words, I do not try to insult anyone or trolling, just think it may be a good decision to support WotC more "directly" - in the end all we want is to 5th edition be the best RPG ever...

I played 4th ed but didn't like it. The tone of the game is different. Things from 4th ed that I hope they keep: easy monster building stats, ritual spells that anyone can do with the right requirements/ingredients, and skill challenges.

No offense to WotC, I do wish them all the success available to them. I hope they create a product line that proves to be something that many gamers can be happy with. I have no such needs, as I have the game that fits already, called Pathfinder. WotC was never my 'go to' game publisher. TSR was, but that company is no more. I don't feel the need to be loyal to brand, since it's no longer the company that created the game, rather some entity that owns it now. Though I did play 3x, it wasn't out of need to support WotC rather the game that I played at the time.

So I have no intentions of joining in WotC's playtest. Whether they make a better game or not is not my concern, though I hope they do, for the fans sake.

Oh, I didn't think you were trolling. It did seem that you were trying to 'cap' this thread. Nothing about our discussion here prevents you from posting on a Hasbro forum, nor does this thread's existence prevent us from doing the same. I intend to provide Hasbro with my suggestions and feedback- but I also wish to discuss 5E with my peers here on FoS.

If I may ask, since you must be one of those that use pathfinder: Since you owned 3.5 edition books, why you re-bought them in pathfinder form and didn't just use the SRD of pathfinder?
Simple curiosity here. I've check pathfinder, it has things I like and our group uses and I use them straight out of their SRD.

I was still playing 2e in 2005. I didn't switch until late in that year and I only own 7 each 3.5 books before I started looking at the Beta in late 2006. So my 'commitment' to 3.5 was late and short, relatively speaking. I've been playing Pathfinder for almost as long as I played 3.5 - I am not typical.

To some PF is just a 'copy' of 3.5 slightly altered, but I'd say since since APG, UM and UC, Pathfinder is 50% 3.5 and 50% PF - it's more different than 3.0 is to 3.5. (I never played 3.0, but my group does have some 3.0 books). Stuff from 3.5 can still be converted to PF - but it requires a conversion, rather than direct placement of something from one game to the other. I'm not trying to twist your arm, just to let you know it's more different than you realize.

It helps to have books on the table, since we don't have an accessable PC when we play games.

Michael
