Karim, Alain, Wat, and Benn move through the broken and tangled ground nearing the stream. Harald and two of the lumbermen follow in their wake- but hang back and cast wary glances about at the dark trees. The groaning sound gets a little louder as the Karim and his friends come to the bank. Looking across the creek, the forward party can all see (all except Alain, of course) some motion within the cave mouth. A humanoid form is stirring within the hollow space, behind the screen of dead reeds.
The bedraggled man who half-crawls, half-staggers from the crevice is nearly covered from head to toe in slimy reddish-brown mud. Twigs and thorns are stuck in his long hair. His robes are so dirty and stained that one couldn't say with any certainty what color they might have been when clean. He is not armed, but holds forth a silver amulet as he steps out into the dimming light.
He takes a good look at your party and quickly relaxes his posture. Breathing a great sigh of relief, he announces-
''Thanks be to the Lady- I am rescued!''

Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.
