Mists over the Musarde, Chapter Ten
Re: Mists over the Musarde, Chapter Ten
"Only because you were insulting me! You think because you are guardsmen you have the right to offend others, especially those not from here and of different race? No matter if I must teach you the same lessons I taught the Tyrants men in Hroth! You will learn to respect your elders.. Forgive me Benn and Dorgio."
Galandel will fire a single shot at the sword arm of the Captain, it should be obvious that he has no intention of killing these men.
Attack 1d20+10=18
Damage 1d8+5=13
After firing Galandel makes his way to the front door, to go out side with Baelmus following behind him.

History prefers legends to men. It prefers nobility to brutality, soaring speeches to quiet deeds. History remembers the battle and forgets the blood. What ever history remembers of me if it remembers me at all, it shall only be the fraction of the truth.

Re: Mists over the Musarde, Chapter Ten
Your first shot downs the captain by putting an arrow through his arm. He falls against the wall, bright red blood pumping from his wound.
You spin on your heels and rush towards the front door.
You can hear the guards charging across the floorboards close behind you. You make it into the ante-room. The closed front door is a few feet ahead of you. Baelmus suddenly yelps as if in pain. You hear someone stumble. Three more steps...
Something rips into your back. You fall to the floor boards, you outstretched hands mere inches from the door. You can almost reach it with your fingers.
Heavy boots smash into your back like falling boulders. Someone stabs you in the back again. You hear Baelmus snarling and a man screaming in pain and fury.
Then the blackness takes you...

Re: Mists over the Musarde, Chapter Ten
Benn, Thora, Dorgio, and Jon in the parlor-
Focused as you have been on Charlotte's delicate condition or your own conversations, you all were still somewhat cognizant of the elf's tense coversation with the gendarmes.
Just as it might have seemed the crisis had passed, things get ugly- very, very quickly. Before either of you can intervene, a fight breaks out at the far end of the room! Galandel shoots a man in the arm. The elf turns to flee, followed by his wolf. Before he can reach the front door, he is mobbed by angry gendarmes. The wolf trips one man and goes for the throat. Galandel, you can see, has been stabbed at least twice. Now the four men still on their feet are stomping on him with their hobnailed boots or else stabbing and hacking at Baelmus.
Dofur, outside on the front porch-
You hear a fight inside the house, and it sounds as if it's taking place not far beyond the (closed) front door! Men shouting, stomping, blows, screams, a wolf snarling, etc.

Benn flashes Dofur a guilty smile, patting him on the shoulder as he obviously has realized the truth.
Suddenly the commotion out front escalates, and he stands up, rushing to the door. Throwing it open, he shouts at the two guards. "What in the hells are you doing? Step away from him this instant!"

"Of course," Benn mutters, "It would be a damned shame if we ever knew what the hell was actually going on."

Throw away pipe.
Swallow sausage.
Grab warhammer.
Bring hell into the house.
Usually, Dofur is all talk when it comes to divert a fight.
This time, however, still angry about Thora, and conscious that the combatants most likely won't understand his undermountain dialect,
he will just plunge into the action and try to knock out the adversaries.
[Applying non-lethal damage.]

Re: Mists over the Musarde, Chapter Ten
In the foyer adjacent to the parlor-
The gendarmes continue to battle desperately against the ferocious, maddened wolf. They step all over Galandel as they fight, but are no longer stabbing or hacking at him.
One of them whips his face towards Benn and yells-
''We've been betrayed! He shot the captain!"
At that moment, Dofur comes barreling through the front door, swinging his war hammer at the nearest of the greencoats.
A gendarme cries out-
''Another assassin!''

Thora, upon hearing the commotion goes to investigate. Upon seeing what is transpiring, she bursts into action! Running as fast as she can she gets a good head start and at the last moment springs her pumping legs and jumps at the back of two of the gendarmes, arms extended. Yelling at the top of her lungs as she jumps "Easy ter fight a lone, prone elf, ye dags! Take this, you cowards!"

[[Before the attack]]
Dorgio smiles when he sees Galandel. "I did not think you would be making it!" He looks down at his boot. "Yes, I'll be needing that patched up. And you are looking handsomer too, I am seeing!" He gestures towards Charlotte. "I must be getting back to this, but I am glad you are with us."
[[After the Attack]]
"Light of dawn are you all mad?" Dorgio shouts in the direction of the fight, then rushes to Galandel's side, attempting to imbue the downed elf with healing.

Jonathan shouts out to the group:
"Hold your swords! Quit all this fighting!"
Jonathan quickly rushes to the captain's side checking the severity of the man's injury.

Re: Mists over the Musarde, Chapter Ten
Thora crashes into two of the gendarmes, but is only able to bring one of these two to the floor.
The man who has just escaped Thora's grip now spins to attack Dofur, slashing at the dwarf and inflicting a light wound,
Baelmus is mauling one of the men on the floor- but the man is fighting back, pummeling and choking the wolf.
Two other gendarmes hack at the wolf.
Dorgio worms through the press and tangle of battle and lays his hands on the fallen elf. He prays for healing...
Jon, in the parlor, checks on the captain.

Taking a deep breath of air as Dorgio healing power surges through him. He rolls away from the humans standing above him, grabbing his bow as he does. Coming up to a sitting position at the end of roll, Galandel hastily fires a shot at human still standing by Baelmus.

Re: Mists over the Musarde, Chapter Ten
Dorgio siles in grim satisfaction when he sees Galandel rise, but his expression turns to shock when the elf immediately kills yet another guard.
He steps between Galandel and the approaching guard. "What is the meaning of this? Be laying down your weapons, both of you!"

The young, beardless gendarme shouts in Dorgio's face-
''No! You lay down your weapons and no one else gets hurt. We are the law!''
He shakes his sword at Dorgio, but does not attempt to strike the cleric.
Closer to the front door, the dwarves are still brawling with the other two gendarmes.
Dorgio and Galandel can see that Baelmus is creeping up to attack the young Gendarme from behind!

Re: Mists over the Musarde, Chapter Ten
Benn is nearly transfixed with shock. He looks back towards the parlor, where the mother of his unborn child lies wounded, and turns back to the melee in progress.
"You listen here!" Bennedict says, stepping up into the face of the guard who had done the talking. "I know this elf, and if he struck you it was not unprovoked. Your men are wounded, some perhaps seriously. Now is the time when you have a choice: stay here and die, knowing that we have connections with wealthy and powerful people in this city and it will ultimately be for nothing, or leave now, and take your dignity and health with you."
He lifts his cane/club threateningly, looking to the dwarves. "Stand down a moment, Herr dwarves, while they make up their mind."
