Sorry to revive an old thread, but as a guy still trying to get all of the 3e and 3.5 Ravenloft stuff, was anything ever done with the ToUD at all? Also, have any of you guys (players and DMs) been that far in a campaign? Oh, and will there be a netbook put out here about that time in Ravenloft? Thanks.

Nope. Nothing at all. It's still up to the gamers to let their imaginations run wild and come up with something that those hack designers would never think of.Guardian of Twilight wrote:Sorry to revive an old thread, but as a guy still trying to get all of the 3e and 3.5 Ravenloft stuff, was anything ever done with the ToUD at all?
Can't answer the other questions....

Hmm, well. (First post here so correct me if I'm off)
If anything turned me away from other campaign settings and towards RL, it was the space RL leaves for creativity. Aspects that are left unanswered such as ToUP, the true purpose of the GC (and his children, let alone who 3/5 of them are), and the very nature of the DP, allow wack job GM's room to think up cool stuff. Like Wiccy's Allegory of the Lab Rats. Btw, When one thinks of Azalin, who simply has to relate to Brain from "Pinky and the Brain".
Here's a question though. I know that Hazzlik, DL of Hazlan, is building a device that will hopefully kill all of the Mulan not only in RL, but everywhere else (i.e. FR too). Well, we have an unoverly complicated device, designed by a dying old wizard, for the purposes of cross plane genocide. Could this have anything to do with it? For instance, it goes BOOM!

The reason that I asked if anything had been done was I always like to see where something is going in a campaign. Some things, no matter how much room for creativity others leave, are always going to be spelled out. Others are more of a word search. They always give you a few clues to lead you in the right direction. That is what I am looking for here. Also, welcome to the site.

I know I have it somewhere, must be on my work computer. All I have here is his proposed outline for DU (from the Wizard's board 2003);Charney wrote:Speaking of Death Undaunted, does anybody still has the outline that JWM had made. He put it online shortly after the Karg closed down.
I want to use it for eventual inspiration when I will send my PCs to Necropolis.
John W. Mangrum wrote:Look, it's possible that someday I may return to and complete this project, once I get a little distance. I haven't said much till now because I don't want to dissuade folks from using their imaginations.
Tell you what, though. For now, here's the table of contents which will, if anything, further stoke speculation:
Introduction
For the Dungeon Master
What Has Gone Before
Adventure Synopsis
Dramatis Personae
The Drowning Dreams
Prologue
Scene One: Enter the Heroes
Scene Two: The Doom Prophet
Scene Three: Silent Sentinels
Act I: Into the Land of the Dead
Scene Four: The Shrouded Realm
Scene Five: Enter Famine
Scene Six: Friends and Foes
Scene Seven: No Escape
Act II: Better to be Loved
Scene Eight: Martira Bay
Scene Nine: The Overseer
Scene Ten: The Cosmopolis Club
Scene Eleven: Enter War
Scene Twelve: Tavelia's Crypt
Scene Thirteen: Dead Man's Chest
Scene Fourteen: Where All Roads Lead
Act III: Castle Avernus
Scene Fifteen: A Desperate Chase
Scene Sixteen: Enter Pestilence
Scene Seventeen: At the Gates
Scene Eighteen: Within the Keep
Scene Nineteen: The Throne Regained
Scene Twenty: Denouement
Epilogue
Death Victorious
Tavelia Victorious
The Heroes Victorious
Once and Future King
I only wish I had retired sooner!

I had a Time of Unparalleled Darkness supplement for my Ravenloft group. It basically explained the Time of Unparalleled Darkness as an Apocalyptical Revelations like series of events.
I'd be happy to give it to the Fraternity to put up if they want.
It was something like thirty pages, based on White Wolf's "End of the World of Darkness" series, and had the following cast
Isolde
Drigor
Azalin
Strahd
The Gentleman Caller
Rudolf Van Ritchen
Mallochio
Hyskosa
and culminated in the PCs getting to choose the ultimate fate of the Demiplane

I see it here for the first time... The one big adventure that would have made a worth transient from 2e to 3e... Not that Vecna -Series...Catman Jim wrote:I know I have it somewhere, must be on my work computer. WOW! I just read this thread and already got hooked!!!
It's true, DU was the adventure that should have carried us all into the next RL Ed. Maybe it could have made things more easy to understand, like the Gaz's plot from Azalin and of course the GC's master plan.
I have always wondered what was going to happen in ToUD. I played BH, and the ending I had for it was that VR was not dead, he only was "absorbed" by the house. Moreover, after reading VGttM, I found out that VR could be alive and lurking in the Mists, waiting for the right time to reapear!! That was a blast, specially because of the ending I chose for my BH campaign. I mean, the DP are up to something, if they took VR into the mists and are keeping him there until the ToUD. Right?
So Mr. Mangrum, we are eager to see the adventre DU. Please Enlighten us with your wisdom. We are willing to offer more than our souls to the mists
But for now a human sacrifice will suffice...

My favorite part is where Isolde, after losing Carnival to the Gentleman Caller's retalliation, takes on the appearence of Ezra and starts a "crusade" to rid the Demiplane of Evil. Her own reality wrinkle overcoming much of the Darklords power as her actions become increasingly insane.
