New to Ravenloft? Or new to our forum? introduce yourself!
Re: New to the Forum? introduce yourself here!
Hello everyone!
I will turn 37 in depressingly short amount of days. I live in North Carolina and I've been roleplaying since 17. My first experience with Ravenloft was not having enough cash in my pocket to buy the original Castle Ravenloft I6. This resulted in a peculiar addiction where I buy a copy of I6 every time I see one. In the real world, that is. I avoid this issue on Ebay and Amazon type places by simply not searching for it. Ah, willpower.
It will be nice to meet you all. I am already forming a darklord for Gothic Earth Eternal.

I should probably do this, considering I've posted a few times, already.
I'm Dave... I've been playing tabletop RPGs for fifteen or sixteen years (I'm 28, now, and I started sometime in 7th or 8th grade), starting with the black box Classic Dungeons and Dragons (well, starting with Heroes Quest), then working my way up through the editions (my first DM only had 1st Ed. AD&D books, though 2nd Ed. was releasing). Adam's Wrath was the first thing I bought after I bought the 2nd E.d core books, in the summer of '96 or '97, and the 2nd Ed. campaign setting that same fall -- sadly, I've never actually played in a Ravenloft game, and I'm just now DMing my first Ravenloft campaign, though I've loved the setting for over a decade.
In my time rolling dice, I've played an innumerable amount of d20 variants, played a stupid amount of World of Darkness games (both old and new -- I even ran a 40 person LARP that covered all of the oWoD), tried my hand at a couple Palladium games (Nightbane and Rifts are so awesome, fluff wise, but the rules are awful), and recently I started playing M:tG.
Outside roleplaying, I'm married, have a kid, work in a nursing college in medical simulation, play guitar in a reggae band, do sound design for films and video games, and I'm slowly rebuilding a '66 Cadillac Sedan DeVille (well, I'm rebuilding my house, but the Cadi is next on my list).
I'm sure I'll post around here more as I get more in depth with all things Mist related -- hopefully the rest of my group enjoys this obsession as much as I do. :p

Welcome Matney X, and good luck with your campaign!

Great site
Hello, I have been reading Ravenloft as long as I can remember. I have the origianl adventure that started it all. I have always loved horror lovecraft style stories and having the option to create one to interact is great. I have been working on a Grand Conjunction with my own versus replacing the the Ship of Horror module, not really felling this one, especially who they face at the end.
:
I mostly read now but enjoyed Dming back in the day.

Re: New to the Forum? introduce yourself here!
Hey hey hey. I'm a guy who's been gaming for nearly two decades. I've always been a fan of Ravenloft, but never had the cojones to run a Ravenloft game, since I never felt like I could do justice to the setting. A few months ago I read a blog from a player in a former game of mine, and after marvelling that any of my players liked me anymore (with as often as I deceive and betray them) I decided I was indeed ready for Ravenloft. I'm six games into my first Ravenloft campaign (3.25 ed) and loving it.
Here's an interesting question: is it appropriate to start an ongoing thread to discuss my campaign and ask for advice, or is that something that I should avoid?

Re: New to the Forum? introduce yourself here!
Good evening, folks.
Okay, so, my name is Jim, I've been playing since around the age of fourteen (twelve, almost thirteen years), I'm a big fan o' the 'loft (surprised?), and I've been lurking around your community for years and years and years. I spent a good deal of time around SotK, but as a silent observer. I'm more of a player than a DM, but I've been on the other side of the screens a bit, too. Oh, and I'm a big D&D cosmology guy. The big picture is kind of my area of expertise (especially prior to Vecna's day-trip to The City of Doors, but I know a good deal about the whole shebang). Um, I guess that's about it, honestly.
Oh, the main reason I've decided to step from the deeps of the mists is 'cause my wife's absolutely enamored with Ravenloft and has decided to run a campaign (she'll be signing up shortly, I imagine), and I recommended she join the frat if she was indeed serious about getting some feedback on her ideas (I won't be much help, 'cause I'll be playing. Hoorah!) and running the hell out of the setting she has chosen.
Anyway, the Trick-or-Treaters have come and gone for the evening, so I figured I'd just pop on and throw up my intro post. Cheers!

Howdy, ladies and gents! I'm the aforementioned wife.
I have a bad habit of abusing smilies, so please do try to put up with it.
I, um. I'm not that good, I swear.
But I do try. I'm doing a little bit of reading (just the old adventures; I'm riffling through House on Gryphon Hill as I type, actually!) before I start - I wanted terribly to do a little one-shot for Halloween, but that wasn't in the cards this year.
Ah well, that just means I have a solid 364 days to prepare for next Halloween.
Oh, one more thing: as I type, I have a live crow sitting on my shoulder.
No, seriously - ask PlanarRambler if you don't believe me. Her name's Morgan. She is simultaneously the best, and worst, prop ever.
So, um. I'm probably not going to post that much - I'm a lurker at heart - but if I do, it will probably be to throw something up in the fiction forum. So, um, please do try not to eviscerate me too badly! I can improve, and I hope I do.
It's lovely to be here.

Welcome! We always like to observe cursed couples in Ravenloft
Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions on the setting!

Welcome to you both! Don't be afraid to jump in and comment! We don't bite (much). Anyone with a crow on their shoulder automatically gets brownie points. or at least a cookie.
(Er, you didn't happen to come back from the land of the dead to put the wrong things right, did you?)

I must say.... awesome! A pet crow! +1 for you!
Re: New to the Forum? introduce yourself here!
Hey! Thanks for the warm welcome.
No, I'm not back from the grave, to right any wrongs or otherwise. (Incidentally, she seemed to like that movie.) I got a minor brain-wave for a story so, um, no promises - but I'll try to have something in the relevant subforum this weekend. (Are you supposed to make the comments topic yourself, or does that happen as a matter of course after you post or...? That's mildly confusing, that is.)
