That was church dogma. But given how Darkon's native death-worship took a lot of hits in the credibility department, thanks to the Requiem, my guess is that most people now consider Azalin responsible, especially now that he's back and reputed to be putting the undead trespassers from Necropolis back in their place (i.e. under *his* control rather than Death's).

What about after the Requim, when both Azalin and the Church went *poof*, and when Falkovnia was repulsed by Darkon's dead while Azalin was indisposed?
