Re: A Stitch In Souragne
Goren & Zumba:
As the priest and the Capoeira leave their room, they find themselves in the corridor where the guest rooms are located. There are torches to illuminate the hallway, but their flames have burned low. A faint whiff of stench hangs in the air -- the smell of the swamp. The only people they see on exiting their rooms, are each other. All is silent, except for the clashing of steel.
The sound of battle clearly comes from Vincent's room.
(OOC: The damage you suffered in the dream lingers for now, though it will be gone by dawn.)
Jazelle & Vincent:
Jazelle's whip snaps and lashes out at the priest, who ducks without even looking at her. The leather cord misses him by inches, but the white-clad man has opened himself to Vincent's attack by dodging the whip. The rapier dips into the priest's flesh, and blood stains his robes.
"Swine!" the priest roars, and hacks at Vincent. The blow is true, but not as damaging as the one before. It seems the man is slowing down a little...
(OOC: Again, Mr. White dodges the whip. :-\ But Vincent manages to hit him -- and gets hit himself by an attack roll of 23, for 3 damage.)

Re: A Stitch In Souragne
Goren follows Zumba to Vincent's room. "I had the oddest dream about this stitched man. You were in it. Let us help Vincent now and talk later, shall we?" The red haired priest has his mace in his hands, a look of determination on his face.
Re: A Stitch In Souragne
Zumba understands (?) Goren and nods, still shaken.
"I had a dream too..." he says, while running to Vincent's door. He opens it wide, staff in hand and ready to strike.

Abandoning her failed attempts with the whip, Jazelle reaches down and lifts her crossbow in order to fire at the priest.

Goren follows closely behind Zumba, mace in his hands. Once the man enters the room, Goren will stay at the door and look inside to see what is transpiring before acting.
Re: A Stitch In Souragne
On the altar, in his, now bloodstained, white nightclothing, Vincent presses his attacks against the priest. He waves his rapier looking for an opportunity to strike the man or even kick him if the opportunity arises.

Goren & Zumba:
Upon entering Vincent's room, an odd sight greets the priest and the Capoeira. Vincent is out of bed. Still dressed in his nightshirt, but with rapier in hand, the dashing young gentleman seems to be fighting.... shadows. His blade lashes out like a viper's tongue, clashing against the wall. Or no, not against the wall. Rather, the blade is clashing against some of the dancing shadows cast by a candle burning on the bedside table. The sound is clearly that which you heard in the corridor; steel on steel.
Jazelle & Vincent:
The priest almost contemptuously bats Vincent's latest stroke aside -- and then screams in agony, as Jazelle's arrow punches into his back! This appears to be the last straw for your opponent. With a quick move he sheathes his blade, seizes the folds of his robes and makes a backflip, launching himself off the altar and away from you.
(OOC: Attack of Opportunity, both of you.)
As soon as the priest's feet touch the ground, he turns towards the door and starts running. "This is not over!" he shouts as he dashes off. "I shall return, stronger than before!"
(OOC: The priest takes an arrow to the back, and issues a double-move, tumbling off the altar and making a mad dash for freedom. If you run after him, he has a 30 ft. lead on you.)

Re: A Stitch In Souragne
Goren immediately clutches his holy symbol, focusing his attention on the shadowy apparition. Presenting it with confidence he says
"Foul demon spawn! In the name of the MorningLord Lathander, I command thee, begone! Begone from this place! Leave this temple now!!!!!!
Turning attempt:

If it works, Goren has exalted turning which gives 3d6 extra damage.

Vincent is impressed by the backflip the priest makes. He has never seen any holy man do such a thing. He lunges forward to stab the man.

After which he jumps off the altar, quickly grabs the incense holder with chain and sprints after the man, rapier in the other hand. "I'll be right back dear" he says confidently at Jazelle. His heart races at the excitement of this turn of events. "Where are you going priest?" he yells after him "Afraid to lose your faith or afraid to meet your Patron personally too early, weakling?" he taunts.
OOC: He tries to taunt the priest back into fighting him.

Re: A Stitch In Souragne
If Zumba somehow understands that the shadows are moving in the direction of the door, he tries to block it with his frame as much as possible. I trust he still doesn't see the priest nor Jazelle, right?

Re: A Stitch In Souragne
Goren & Zumba:
As Goren lifts high the sign of the Morninglord, the bright glare of the noonday sun fills the room assigned to Vincent. There is a distant, shrieking noise as all shadows are abolished, if only for the moment. The candle topples and falls, and when the blast of holy light ends, the room is plunged into darkness for a moment -- darkness too absolute.
It is the light that falls in through the doorway that saves you from the dark. Slowly, details rise back into view.
(OOC: You see neither Jazelle nor the killer priest in white, just Vincent.)
Vincent & Jazelle:
The priest turns on his heel, a scream of fury on his lips and a throwing knife in his hand. "I'll kill you!" he screams as he flicks his weapon at Vincent -- and bright light, bright as the sun, suddenly erupts out of nowhere and fills the whole room.
You can hear a distant, hate-filled shrieking, and then...
Goren, Vincent & Zumba:
Vincent finds himself awake, and standing in his bedroom in the Port d'Elhour Church of Ezra. The night candle is lying on the floor, its whick snuffed out. Goren and Zumba stand nearby, both of them armed. The door is wide open, and sounds of alarm can be heard in the distance, the cries and footfalls of Anchorites alerted somehow.
A throwing knife is jutting from Vincent's shoulder. Just an inch more to the left, and it could well have pierced his heart. It was not there a moment ago and, at the blink of an eye, it is no longer there. The wound it left behind, however, is. Red stains Vincent's nightshirt in another place.
(OOC: Vincent takes a knife wound worth 5 points as the priest's 'goodbye'.)
Jazelle:
Jazelle is hurled from the dream of Ezra's shrine into another one. This is a dream of a more familiar place, though no more a welcome one. It is a dream of the swamp.
An old man lies on a tiny island in the dwindling marsh, his back marked by hideous wounds that seep with the clear liquid of infection. As if sensing the young woman's presence, he feebly lifts his head and gives her a pleading look. "You must... come to... her," he manages to wheeze, then faints.
Between his outstretched hands, night itself seems to stir on wide wings. The darkness explodes, filling Jazelle's vision and carrying her out of her sleep, to start awake in her bed in Marais d'Tarascon.
A voice echoes in her mind, a feminine hiss: "La Rue des Tristepas. Meet them there. Meet them there. Then cometomecometomecometomecometomeeee~!"
(OOC: At this point, you may all level up. The next stage of the adventure is about to begin, and you shall all meet on the main road connecting Port d'Elhour and Marais d'Tarascon: La Rue des Tristepas, the road of sad steps.)

"Holy Mother!" Goren rushes in as fast as he can and moves right up to Vincent. "Sit, Vincent. Let me help you with this knife."
Goren attempts to get Vincent to sit. "Get help, Zumba!" He studies the wound. Gripping his holy symbol he places his hand over Vincent's wound and chants praise to Lathander as healing energy flows from his hand into Vincent's wound.

Re: A Stitch In Souragne
In all the excitement of the battle, Vincent did not expect this sudden change. His green eyes widen in surprise as the light fades and he realizes he's standing in his room. An unexpected stab of pain in his chest makes him look down, seeing the dagger planted disappear. "What?" he mumbles under his breath.
He looks around looking for the woman he just saved, instead his eyes meet the cold stone walls of his own room. The change was so sudden and unexpected that only now he starts to realize that he was dreaming. As Goren rushes to him, Vincent smiles and let's out a chuckle. He obeys Goren and sits down. The wound is not the only one on his body apparently. "If that was a dream, why am I bleeding?." he asks to Zumba and Goren.
While he tries to wrap his mind around what just happened, he let's himself be treated.

Re: A Stitch In Souragne
Goren speaks in reassuring tones to Vincent. "I don't know, to be honest. I could have sworn I saw a knife jutting out of you for a moment, and then it was gone. We can discuss it later when we are well rested and have clear minds. Now just rest, Vincent." The healing done, Goren eyes Vincent and then moves back. This has been an odd evening, to say the least. I will speak with the others in the morning of this evening. Maybe they had strange dreams like I did. I suddenly feel more knowledgeable for some reason. This bears looking into as well.
The red haired man says to Vincent "I think my healing has done the trick, Vincent. If there is nothing more I would like to go rest in my room. We shall talk of this evenings bizarre events in the morning." Goren nods to Vincent and exits the room, heading for his.
