Terry Pratchett's Hogfather

Post by Malus Black »

I'm slightly surprised that no-one has mentioned Sky One's live-action adaption of Terry Pratchett's novel Hogfather. I have to say that I am A) looking forward to this like the rabid Pratchett-fan that I am, and B) slightly peeved that I won't get to see it before the DVD is released. It looks absolutely wonderful, and I'm thrilled that it's a full four-hour miniseries instead of a simple two-hour movie, which wouldn't do the book justice. The making of and advertisement featurettes look magnificent, and the cast is stellar. They even have Pratchett himself as the toymaker. :D

Hogswatch has never been so sweet for Pratchettians.

(As an aside, I am thrilled at how many large-budget fantasy adaptions we're getting in 2007. There's Neil Gaiman's Stardust and Coraline, not to mention Robert Zemeckis' Beowulf, based on Gaiman's script, and December sees Philip Pullman's The Golden Compass hit the silver screen, amongst others.)

It was a bit disappointing in places, but still good on the whole. I just thought that Death's voice was WRONG!!! They should've got Christopher Lee back.
