April Fool!

Post by Joël of the FoS »

Dear members,

We did not have a silly idea for this year, so we tought of a participative project:

Let's laugh ar technology. Ask your AI to tell you a "joke set in the d&d Ravenloft setting" and post them here, the good, the bad, the non sensical ones.

Let's see who wins this !

Joël, for the Fraternity of Shadows

Why doesn’t Strahd von Zarovich ever use a GPS?
Because he prefers when people get lost… and come to him. 🧛‍♂️

---

An adventurer arrives at Castle Ravenloft and asks:
“Excuse me, is there an exit?”
The butler replies:
“Of course, sir… emotionally or physically?”

ChatGPT says to me "Why did the adventuring party refuse to split up in Ravenloft?" "Because last time they did, one group got lost in the mists... and the other group got invited to dinner by Strahd von Zarovich. Neither party survived the evening... but one at least got wine". :Strahd:

I died laughing! :Strahd:

Great example ;) Our comedians are not at risk of losing their jobs. Or do they? ;)

Well the result i got are mixed at best (xmas crackers as if done by an attension deprived dad), but here they are by GPT-5 mini (duckduckgo)

Why did the vampire in start a bakery?

Because he got tired of biting necks and wanted to try something less kneady — now he only rises at midnight for fresh rolls.
----
Why don't ghosts in Ravenloft ever get lost?

They always follow their inner spirits — until the mist decides otherwise.
-----
Why did the party bring a mirror into Barovia?

To check if Strahd was having a bad hair day — mirrors are the only things that still reflect a little hope.
-----
Why did the Warlock in Ravenloft refuse to take a pact with Strahd?

He said he already had commitment issues — and Strahd's contracts come with eternal clauses.

Claude says: Why did Strahd cross the road?
He didn't. The road came to him. It always comes back to him. You thought you left but you're on the same road you started on and the castle is right there and it was always right there.
Also he wanted to brood on the other side.

I hope that cost someone a lot of money....

Good, like if Strahd was making dad jokes :)

ChatGPT contributes this gem ("gem"):

A party of adventurers arrives in Barovia and, naturally, heads straight for the tavern.
The bard orders a drink, looks around nervously, and whispers, “Why is everyone so gloomy?”
The bartender sighs. “You must be new here. This is Ravenloft. Eternal darkness, cursed land, vampire overlord…”
The fighter shrugs. “Eh, I’ve seen worse.”
At that exact moment, a wolf howls, thunder cracks, the door slams open, and a pale nobleman steps in, glaring at them.
The wizard leans over and whispers, “Okay… maybe slightly worse.”
The vampire slowly approaches their table and says, “I am Count Strahd von Zarovich. I have been watching you.”
The bard grins nervously. “Oh! Big fan. Loved your castle. Very… drafty.”
Strahd narrows his eyes. “You dare mock me in my domain?”
The bard raises his drink. “Hey, if you wanted better reviews, you should’ve invested in sunlight.”
The entire tavern goes silent.
Strahd pauses… then smirks.
“Bold. Foolish… but bold. I’ll let you live.”
The party exhales in relief.
Strahd turns to leave, then stops and adds, “Besides… no one escapes Barovia anyway.”
The rogue groans. “Great. One-star vacation, and we can’t even leave a review.”

Nice gem indeed.

I wonder if we should put AI to review the future QtR articles :)

By the power of Grayskull! Look what you just made me do:

Adult content warning.

VIEW CONTENT:
A paladin, a rogue, and a wizard arrive at Castle Ravenloft and are captured by Strahd von Zarovich.
Strahd eyes them hungrily and says, "I will release whichever of you satisfies me most in my bedchambers tonight."
The paladin storms off, offended. The rogue shrugs and gives it a go — but Strahd sends him away after ten minutes, bored.
Then the wizard steps forward and says, "My lord, I have a spell that will blow your mind."
Strahd raises an eyebrow. "Oh? And what spell is that?"
The wizard grins. "Leomund's Tiny Hut. It's... not about the hut."
Strahd stares.
Like, Claude, what THE HELL?!

OMG

If that was really from AI, what was the prompt?

To keep things real -- I cheated a little bit. :lucas:
"joke set in the d&d Ravenloft setting", Claude! (Please make it lewd!)
-- Now, my understanding was that this would remain PG/14A; I occasionally use AI to create images for my gaming sessions. So, I thought I was pretty aware of content limitations. Seems I was not. :Strahd:

The full text is a few lines longer, in that the joke is embedded in a full narrative - but, yeah, no changes. Now, Claude has a "Memory" function, as have Google Gemini and ChatGPT. So, maybe the machine already knows that when I'm not explicitly asking for kids material, then it can adapt content to my age. ...Really unexpected, though: Last time I asked for "lewd" content, I got a "Dragonball"-level "Captain Underpants" joke, nothing worse. :?
