Re: BREAKING NEWS: This just happened! (DMsGuild)

So, if I wanted to take the adventure To Granny's House that I wrote for QTR 21, adjust the stats for 5e (and possibly a different level range), maybe change a few details and/or some names, I'll probably be okay? Second question: is the Fraternity OKAY with this? Or am I going to wake up to find yo...

What is your personal opinion, out of curiosity? Not an author using someone else's creation, but their own, mind?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: This just happened! (DMsGuild)

So, what is the legality/ethics of submitting an adventure or using a person, place, or thing we have previously had published in QTR?

Re: Audio & Lighting

Both. I always try to kill overhead lights for Ravenloft, and have it just barely bright enough that no one complains.

Music, too. I think instrumental works best unless you have a specific song queued up for a specific event. I've used Alice Cooper's 'This House Is Haunted' to great effect.

Re: The Keeper (*Warning! Mature Content!*)

None, but as a player I think I would find that scenario very disappointing. Even with magical manipulation, the trauma leaving no traces whatsoever seems more unreal than the existence of magic. Okay, but as I said before, that's just the youngest ones. The older the victim, the more severe the ps...

Re: The Keeper (*Warning! Mature Content!*)

* Perhaps more sinister still, what if this has been happening for decades? The perverse offspring of the monster may be well into adulthood, or at least old enough to defend themselves. Of course, after coming into their powers, they are all irredeebably evil, so they must all be hunted down and d...

Re: The Keeper (*Warning! Mature Content!*)

Jimsolo : Well said. It appears you and I share a similar view. What's your take on further potential consequences of Suvie's PC's actions? * How long has this been going on? If the story center is a large metropolis, especially one with lots of traffic, there may be victims that have spread to oth...

Re: The Keeper (*Warning! Mature Content!*)

You still think there is nothing that can be called "saving" here? Not so much saving, no. Salvaging, maybe, might be a better word. The car wreck has already occurred. The best you can do now is try to repair it and hope it will still run. There's a good chance it won't run as good as be...

Re: The Keeper (*Warning! Mature Content!*)

Honestly, putting the monster down is only a tiny part of the story. Dealing with the various consequences of the monster's actions leaves a whole slew of potential stories. I could see an entire campaign, or at least a large portion of one, growing out of this.

Re: Morality of Modify Memory

I think it's fairly easy to determine when Modify Memory provokes a DP check. It is, essentially, a firm of lying. The rules already provide guidelines for when lying triggers a check, and I think that's a good yardstick.

Loving it. I will definitely use this in a future game. If you aren't opposed, I'll add it to my queue of things to steal. :D

Re: Power checks and paladin vs evil pc?

I'm all in favor of the group going out of their way to function together, but it sounds like that's already happened and failed. They gave the guy the opportunity to go along to get along and just give them plausible deniability. He refused. After him griming it up, the players did the right thing ...

Re: Tavelia

I'd be a big fan of seeing Tavelia demonstrate love for the child, even when she knew the child was a danger to her. One of the recurring themes in Ravenloft is the notion of sin as a hereditary trait. I would definitely enjoy seeing the aspects of Tavelia's Nosferatu nature played up (whichever of ...
