I thought it wasn't dark enough.

The movie pulled its punchlines and wasted a lot of potential to truly challenge moviegoers.

I really, really enjoyed it, and they did a great job with everything they just lacked the followthrough to risk offending the paying masses, which is understandable.

Monster is perfect for Ravenloft, aside from being set in the 20th century.
