In my opinion, they're about five years too soon. And, I wonder, with the announcement of 4e, how's that going to affect the sales of the upcoming Rules Compendium ? Anyway, after viewing the D&D 4e Gen Con presentation on YouTube, I feel they spent more time talking about product / game integra...

No fantasy-setting is likely to increase its appeal by becoming more "normal", IME: "normal" is precisely what people play these games to get away from. I don't think so. High-fantasy settings (like Forgotten Realms or Eberron) take a kitchen-sink approach to the fantasy element...

There are two issues here: First, game companies, like all companies, exist to make money. If they don't keep making new product, they have to close up shop. . . . Yes, but that doesn't mean they have to keep selling the same type of product every time there's a new release. Even Burger King sells ...

Did your RL once have no darklords? When a new darklord is created, is his domain carved out of existing domains? Does the land and people in it change to match his personality? How do you explain stuff like the grand conjunction? Never actually come up in play or personal game design; But technica...

The DM book would include the REAL history of the world In my view, the DM's book shouldn't contain the real history of the world. First, players can buy the DMs book too. But, more importantly, rather than spoon-feeding every single detail, the DMs book would include suggestions on how to tweak th...

So far, all the suggestions are good ones: GOOD MAPS; Player info vs. DM info being separate; etc. But, most of all, I think a continuity reboot is in order. There are so many inconsistencies and contradictions that they need to be smoothed out. And, for me, the new continuity needs to be written in...

For a split second there, I thought you were talking about Dee Snider's Van Helsing's Curse.

BTW, nice to find someone on here who also likes Dracula. :D I'm sure we're not the only ones here who likes Dracula as much as we do. In your opinion, what's the best film version? . . . Haven't seen Gary Oldman's version, and frankly, I've heard mixed things about it, I don't know if I really wan...

As a game master, I've never used music in my games though I've always been in favor of the idea. I have , however, used Toxic Bag Productions' Game Master's Collection sound effects to the benefit of my game. Worth every penny. As a player, I've encountered various soundtracks ( Bram Stoker's Dracu...

I don't have the RL Gazeteers in front of me to compare numbers, but: In the year 1500, London was one of the largest western cities, if not the largest, in the world. It was a bustling metropolis for its time. . . and its population was only 50,000. And total world population at the time was only 4...

I've read both of these books. Have you ever checked out their "essential" version of the Dracula novel? I think I like that one best. They did an annotated Dracula ? Wow! I've got to track this down. The only (good) annotated Dracula of which I was aware was Leonard Wolf's. Speaking of W...

Although its a very cool castle, the Impaler spent less than a week (some say a day) in the castle; So, it's selling point, "Castle Dracula," is nothing but a salesmans lie.

What is this deck LG? When a player confirms a critical hit, instead of just multiplying damage, that player draws one card from the deck and follows the result appropriate to the weapon's damage type (bludgeoning, piercing, or slasing). For magical attacks, the magic entry is used. For weapons wit...
