Re: Domains of Delight confirmed.
And I'm rapidly losing faith in the "men behind the curtain" to do this effectively. Ahhh... there is the issue. I have lost faith in these men behind the curtain when I bought 4e. I don't even remember in which corner of my parent's basement are the books. But as far as "Domains con...

Re: WotC: Novels and Non-5E Lore Are Officially Not Canon
Even when writing in the same edition, if you want to keep expanding a world, once in a while you need to reshape / modify what was written before. Otherwise, things are frozen and that limits creativity. I know his comment was about Forgotten Realms, but it applies to RL too. While I do agree with...

Re: WotC: Novels and Non-5E Lore Are Officially Not Canon
I don't think WotC is making decisions with Mistipedia in mind. But regardless, the purpose of Mistipedia is to document what exists. Victor Mordenheim exists (in 2nd and 3rd Edition books). Viktra Mordenheim exists (in the 5e book, and likely any going forward that might exist). So Mistipedia shou...

Re: Domains of Delight confirmed.
I don't find domains of delight to be expression of any kind of "creative bankruptcy". To be fair, in fairytales we often see such things. It's too close of a tie-in for me. They can tie it into Ravenloft just fine, but part of the joy of tying things into Ravenloft is the subtlety. I'd m...

Re: Domains of Delight confirmed.
In 4th edition, fey demesnes were very much NOT like domains of dread. Rather, it was a side-effect of the fey's power interacting with the strong currents of natural magic that permeate the Feywild environment. Basically, if a powerful fey settles in an area, that area's terrain and baser life for...

Re: Domains of Delight confirmed.
The fact that they are trying to specifically design adventures for the liveplay/streaming community from here on out is a bit worrisome. Specifically trying to make every scenario to be broken into 2-4 hour chunks means quality of writing will probably lower because everything needs to be able to ...

Re: WotC: Novels and Non-5E Lore Are Officially Not Canon
I mean, if canon isn't a thing in D&D, then someone please explain to me why Mistipedia exists and what precisely it keeps track of? Clearly, canon is a thing. I think WotC just finally decided to stop adding to the growing corpus of it and retconning what they need to make more. It's pretty sim...

Re: Domains of Delight confirmed.
The Feywild already had these in 4e, they were just called demesnes. Which is pronounced the same as "domain." They were areas ruled by a powerful archfey, who could shape land. Didn't realize they were in 4E. I wonder how far the parallelism goes though. Are those archfey now stuck there...

Re: Domains of Delight confirmed.
I'm especially intrigued by the way the encounters will be designed, as one of the Witchlight campaign's main features is that it can apparently be completed without ever having to engage in physical violence (assuming your players aren't looking for a slaughterfest). On the one hand, I think that'...

I'm still uncertain what sort of form it might take, but I was absolutely not intending in any way to copy-paste anything from FoG. Thanks!Gonzoron of the FoS wrote:As long as you're not cut and pasting text from (non-OGL) published works, you're good. What you describe is fine.

Re: Quoth the Raven #28 - submissions open
Now that the announcement has been posted, I have a question that doesn't seem to be answered anywhere else. Obviously it's ok to use WotC-property characters as this goes on all the time. But where is the line drawn? If I were, say, going to submit a redone narrative for Feast of Goblyns (clearly n...
