Café de Nuit

Peter Cushing all the way

the star holy symbol he carried was never associated with any particular faith. he used this symbol in Darklords against the child vampire.

finish off the Core by exploring the seas and islands around it.

if i were a film-maker i would:

write a short-story/ story arc that features a protagonist in the classic Gothic mode (no 20th level fighters/wizards/rogues/clerics as central characters),

only feature a Darklord peripherally as a manipulator/behind-the-scenes arch-villian,

skip CG character ...

Which is why the whole Necropolis thing has ALWAYS agravated me: it used to be Il Aluk was to me a sort of little Rome, one of the biggest cities with the University of Il Aluk being a center for learning. Though, even the name, Necropolis - Greek for city of the dead... It can still work, I guess ...

as do i. a vampire masquerading as a divine emperor sounds cool. you've just made me shift my entire conception of Darkon.

yeah!

another thought,

i come from the school of thought that believes "less is more" in horror movies. making massive amounts of anthing (undead or aberrations) could take some of the mystery out of deciphering the nature of the beast.

Cantheist,

i think you have the basis for a wonderful and memorable campaign with these ideas.

i'm not sure what you're looking for though; are you just sharing your material so that we can gain inspiration and gaming material for our respective games OR are you looking for suggestions/ideas/etc ...

maybe a follow up to the Drawves article can be done ... a gazeteer maybe noting other significant dwarvish settlements beyond the two in darkon. the dwarves and misty divine were my personal favorites.

i was rfering to the actress. her accent is pretty good (like Viggo Mortensen's accent in Carlito's Way) and Zeta is Spanish for Z. i was a bit suprised to hear that she is Welsh.

what do you mean by intense?

true, zorro was not after revenge and the film lacked the gravitas of anthony hopkins. this film featured alot more fun comedy of the swashbucking tradition. this movie was just as much about the importance of family as the first one.

besides, i won a free zorro cap ...

i just picked up my copy this past weekend. i genuinely liked the book. i feel that the Powers check is a better constructed game mechanic though. what i plan on doing is blending in the aspects of taint into the Powers check as penalties/flaws that PC's and NPC's gain from failing a powers check ...

i'm a big fan of dwarves, so this issue was a special treat for me.

cant say that i've seen it, but now i'm inspired to rent it. thanx. it seems like there was a number of great horror movies in the 80's whose quality has remained even in this new era of CGI.

I also think David Peel's vampire comes across far more evil and sinister than the Christopher Lee Dracula, who, despite all the snarling, always seems distant and aloof.

i think the filmakers definitely devote more time to character development for the antagonist in "Brides". the film first ...
