Re: What would you want in an official 5e Ravenloft setting?
@Jester, the description makes it sound more suitable for Sigil. Candlekeep did appear briefly the Avernus module, which I am 99% sure without checking is the also the module with Jander Sunstar stuck up in a tree. I think the "key to a door" text is more metaphorical and not literal. Bes...

At that stage of the read through I was still in wtf mode over those giant wasps that...

Re: The thirteen Counts Strahd
Does your Strahd have any control over how he will be next round? I feel like he ought to have some agency because that seems like the point of Darklords: they keep themselves jailed.
And which Strahd was the elven pirate captain?

Re: Godefroy
I keep necroing random threads, so apologies there (Although please help me on my ask Azalin thread. Something entertaining might be released sooner rather than later if you do!) This curse got tacked onto my Wilfred: The ghosts of Estelle and Lilia make an appearance before fading away. Wilfred God...

Re: What would you want in an official 5e Ravenloft setting?
How about a book of mysteries? Scenarios, new investigative items and spells, and dark magic for nefarious murder plots and for hunting monsters. And I mean hunting monsters less in the sense of combat, but more tracking down a creature that is doing its best to avoid direct combat by the clues and...

Re: Ask Azalin - Q&A thread for lore and trivia
Az or anyone else who would like to chip in, what is Baron Metus' first name, and what is his father's name? (In other words, help me pick a name!)

Re: How do you portray Strahd?
You are right, that is the very reason why I have changed Barovia and Strahd completely; My Barovia is deceptively populated; a lot of small villages and few towns and cities, makes it one of the more populated nations with a strong martial tradition; Also, it seats on the remains of the ancienr Ol...

Re: What would you want in an official 5e Ravenloft setting?
If there is one point where a Ravenloft campaign would really want to deviate from the 5e rules (and optional horror aspects) is the social/knowledge end. I've by now sat down and read through older modules just to get a feel for what was. My impression.... you fight way too much! All sorts of rando...

Re: How do you portray Strahd?
I'm hijacking this topic with undead magic, but I'm trying to make a Tasha's Group Patron out of Strahd (Azalin is coming out first at >50% done!, then the Van Richten Society). This take might be controversial, but Strahd von Zarovich's relative in-setting prestige in the Ravenloft Universe makes n...

Re: What would you want in an official 5e Ravenloft setting?
I mean Vistani are a human race with mystical powers and not any race can have those specific powers and since this is a fantasy game. I've always thought of Vistani as more of an inherited lifestyle that comes with an ancient curse, free to wander but can't stay in one place, forever chasing the m...

Re: What would you want in an official 5e Ravenloft setting?
And honestly, 5e has been all about rebooting "classic" content. I don't think we would get further than Gryphon Hill. Well I wouldn't say no to a revision of House on Gryphon Hill, but with taking account the families of Mordent (the various noble houses may have not vanished yet, Renier...

Re: What would you want in an official 5e Ravenloft setting?
I don't think a rules conversion would be on tap because a Ravenloft 5e game wouldn't differ from the base rules. If anything, they'd maybe flesh out the optional horror/sanity stat/madness rules already in the DMG. And honestly, 5e has been all about rebooting "classic" content. I don't t...

Re: Sound off
My aunt died in 2020, but that was due to sustaining a broken hip, which was operated on, only for an infection to necessitate another surgery. And that was too much of a strain for her body; she was in her eighties, I believe. I still miss her. Broken hips are one of the worst. It's a struggle to ...

Re: Sound off
2019 was a pretty good year all things told. Until mid-December when my life was entirely upended. And that led into a really rough 2020, which would have easily, hands-down been the worst year of my life even before COVID kicked in. It has been rough. It has been really, really rough. Hang in ther...
